A shisha lounge with board games & PlayStation 5

Burley Club is a shisha bar in Ochota with shisha masters, Chinese tea brewed with a ceremony and signature cocktails. Games add to that kind of evening: a shelf of board games by the entrance and a PlayStation 5 in the Private Room, at no extra charge. That's our idea of a board game bar in Warsaw - you come for a night out with friends, and a game is part of it.

Private Room

A shisha lounge where games are part of the night

An evening at Burley Club happens around the table. The master prepares your shisha and picks an aroma for your company. We brew Chinese tea with a ceremony at your table: the waiter or bartender does the first infusions and then shows you how to brew the next ones. The bartender will suggest a signature cocktail or lemonade, and if you're hungry, we'll bring burgers from Dobra Buła.

The game is the extra: for when the conversation needs an excuse or someone wants a rematch for last time. Not everyone at the table has to smoke - a pot of tea works just as well over a board game.

Board games at the bar, not a board game café

In Warsaw, board games usually mean a board game café or a gaming club where people come to play for hours. Burley Club is something else: a bar with board games, where the games are close at hand so there's something to do together at the table. The shelf is right by the entrance - pick a game, set it up on the stone tabletop and play. No rental fee, no sign-up. Have a favourite game? Bring it along.

Short games of 15–45 minutes work best here: a round, a chat, some tea, a rematch. The music is kept low, so you can hear each other at the table, even when someone is explaining the rules. Our staff speak English, and the classics need no shared language at all.

What's on the shelf

The games change, but there's always something for any group:

  • Classics: Uno, Jenga, chess, Chinese checkers and a regular deck of cards.
  • For a bigger group: party card games such as Exploding Kittens or Virus! - the rules take a few minutes to explain. For four players there's also Tichu.
  • For two: chess or Sen, a short card game - for a date or a quiet evening in the Small Room.

PlayStation 5 on the big screen

Wondering where to play PlayStation in Warsaw with friends? Our console is in the Private Room: a closed room just for your group, with a big screen on the wall, a round table and velvet armchairs. The PlayStation 5 is available only when you book this room - and then at no extra charge. Two controllers: play one-on-one or co-op while the rest cheer from the armchairs over shisha, tea or a cocktail.

The console has games that are best played in pairs: football in EA Sports FC, fighting games and, for a more relaxed evening, party and co-op games. The list of titles changes - if you're after a particular game, ask when you book.

This isn't a video game bar with rows of stations: one console, one big screen and your company. Want to run your own EA Sports FC tournament? Book the Private Room and mention it in the notes. You draw up the bracket, we provide the room, the screen and the controllers. You can watch a match on the same screen too: tell us which one in the notes, and we'll put it on by arrangement and where possible.

Games for a bigger group

Main Hall - sofas along the brick wall and heavy stone-topped tables with room for a board and a few glasses. We'll seat a bigger group together at one table. If you'd like to play with more than 4 people or for longer than 2 hours, we'll agree the date and terms separately. In that case a deposit may be required, counted towards your bill.

Private Room - a round table where everyone can see the board, and a PlayStation 5 on the wall. Comfortably seats up to 8, larger groups by arrangement. Good for a board game tournament or an evening where nobody will disturb you.

Mafia

You can hold a Mafia night at Burley Club if you come as a bigger group, on selected days when the club is quieter. You bring your own host, we provide the room. We'll set the date by phone.

Board game meetups

Run a group that likes to meet over board games? You're welcome to spend an evening with shisha, tea and cocktails: we'll give you tables in the Main Hall or the Private Room. We'll agree the date and terms by phone; a deposit counted towards the bill may be required.
